Interference effects in nonlinear Compton scattering due to pulse envelope

چکیده
Nonlinear Compton scattering is calculated for the collision of an electron with a plane wave pulse. A mid infra-red (IR) peak arises in photon spectrum due to long-range interference associated pulse envelope. The case flat-top studied as toy model envelope effects and reduced two final-state momentum integrations; sine-squared numerically. perturbative expansion charge-field coupling reveals that already at intermediate intensities, many orders are required correctly capture structure mid-IR peak. By regularising classical result, it shown plane-wave ponderomotive on Finally, can be isolated using energy, angle polarisation filters.

Observation of nonlinear effects in Compton scattering.
Nonlinear Compton scattering has been observed in the collision of a low-emittance 46.6-GeV electron beam with terawatt pulses from a Nd:glass laser at 1054 and 527 nm wavelengths in an experiment at the Final Focus Test Beam at SLAC. Peak laser intensities of 1018 Wycm2 have been achieved, corresponding to a value of 0.6 for the parameter h eErmsymv0c. Results are presented for multiphoton C...

The design and optimization of a Mono-Energetic Gamma-Ray (MEGa-Ray) Compton scattering source are presented. A new precision source with up to 2.5 MeV photon energies, enabled by state of the art laser and x-band linac technologies, is currently being built at LLNL. Various aspects of the theoretical design, including dose and brightness optimization, are presented. In particular, while it is ...

Compton scattering is one of the dominant interaction processes in germanium for photons with an energy of around two MeV. If a photon scatters only once inside a germanium detector, the resulting event contains only one electron which normally deposits its energy within a mm range. Such events are similar to Ge neutrinoless double beta-decay (0νββ) events with just two electrons in the final s...

The polarizability of a system defines its response to a quasistatic electromagnetic field. The induced dipole moment of two constituents of opposite charge, q and −q respectively, at a distance ~r is ~ d = q~r = α~ E, with α the electric polarizability and ~ E the electric field. If the force between the constituents is governed by Hooke’s law, the equilibrium is obtained for α = 2q/C where C ...
متن کاملComplete description of polarization effects in the nonlinear Compton scattering I. Circularly polarized laser photons
We consider emission of a photon by an electron in the field of a strong laser wave. Polarization effects in this process are important for a number of physical problems. We discuss a probability of this process for circularly polarized laser photons and for arbitrary polarization of all other particles. We obtain the complete set of functions which describe such a probability in a compact cova...
